Nearly 230 Pioneers walked across the stage and became alumni.
On Sunday May 21, 2017 at 9:30 in the morning, the Saint John’s High School Commencement for the Class of 2017 ushered in the newest class of Pioneer alumni.
Bishop Robert McManus celebrated the Baccalaureate Mass at Assumption College in Worcester, MA.
Addressing his first class of graduates as headmaster, Alex Zequeira P'19 remarked with pride that the class of 2017 walks out of high school as conscientious and devoted men, ready to face the challenges and be thoughtful leaders in higher education, careers, service, and family life. He was proud to have the unique opportunity to hand high school diplomas to seven students to whom he also awarded diplomas at their graduation from the Nativity School of Worcester four years ago.
The Award for Academic Excellence was presented to Liam Brown (Groton), who delivered the Valedictory Address to his classmates.
Thomas Feraco of Holden was honored with the 2017 Xaverian Award, the highest award bestowed annually upon a graduating senior. This award is given to a senior, nominated by the faculty, who best exemplifies the Xaverian spirit of humility, compassion, faith, and leading by service. The Headmaster describes the Xaverian award winners as students who have “shown through action and character that Saint John’s is a better place because of their presence.”
Ten international students from China and South Korea who chose to spend the last four years at Saint John's graduated with the class of 2017. They are pictured here with Director of School Counseling Paul Brulé '86.
