Powerlifting | Grades 7-12

The Saint John’s Powerlifting team fosters a growth in both confidence and humility for those who enjoy strength training. Athletes can compete both for their own medals, as well as to contribute to team points. Team competition fosters connections with other high school students from around the state as well as the nation. The program provides opportunities for students to showcase their progress in several competitions per season, including the Saint John’s High School Classic, a USA Powerlifting-sanctioned event, and culminates for many lifters at High School Nationals.

Whether looking to compete at the highest level or simply pursue personal strength goals, the program offers a supportive and motivating environment where student-athletes can thrive, build lasting relationships, and achieve success both in and out of the gym.

Founded in 2010, the program has been coached by highly qualified professionals who always put safety first. Students are taught the techniques of the three core lifts: squat, bench press and deadlift, as well as exercises that promote balance and coordination. Powerlifting is a non-cut Winter sport for individuals interested in a non-traditional option.
Saint John’s High School has educated young men under the sponsorship of the Xaverian Brothers since 1898. Through the Saint John’s strong college preparatory curriculum, over 900 students in grades seven through twelve pursue personal and intellectual growth in an environment that is committed to the development of the whole person and recognizes a moral dimension of life through service to God and to others.
