Abdella Center for Ethics announces next lecture
Renowned author & theologian Professor Thomas Groome will visit Saint John's
On Thursday, November 10, 2016, the fourteenth installment of the popular lecture series at Saint John's will be held at the school.
Thomas H. Groome will be engaging with students, faculty, alumni, and families on the topic of fostering faith in the family in his lecture "Sowing the Seeds of Faith." The program will focus particular attention on how parents pass on their faith traditions to the next generation.
This lecture is free and open to the public. All members of the Saint John's community are encouraged to attend, listen, and engage with Professor Groome!

Dr. Groome is Professor of Theology and Religious Education at Boston College and long-serving Chair of the Department of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry in BC’s School of Theology and Ministry.

About Professor Thomas Groome
Dr. Groome is Professor of Theology and Religious Education at Boston College and long-serving Chair of the Department of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry in BC’s School of Theology and Ministry.
In addition to being a senior Professor of Theology and Religious Education at Boston College, he is Director of BC’s Center for the Church in the 21st Century whose purpose is to be a “catalyst and resource for the reform of the Catholic Church.”
A native of Co. Kildare, Ireland, Tom is widely recognized as one of the leading religious educators in the world. His books have been translated into many languages, and they include Catholic Spiritual Practices: Treasures Old and New, Will There Be Faith, Educating for Life: A Spiritual Vision for Every Teacher and Parent, and Sharing Faith: A Comprehensive Approach to Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry.
In curriculum writing, Tom is the author and general editor of The Credo High School Theology Curriculum, an eleven book set of texts for adolescent religious education. He has received many rewards and honors for his work in religious education.

Saint John’s established the Abdella Center for Ethics in 2003 in memory and honor of George F. Abdella with his son, the Hon. Charles A. Abdella ’60. The annual lecture series complements the “whole person” education in Saint John’s academics and extra-curricular activities by exploring the role that ethical questions play in all aspects of modern life.
