Saint John's History St. John's Rowing was started in 1963 by Ken Burns, an instrumental figure in rowing on Lake Quinsigamond. The team originally rowed out of the Worcester Boathouse, and moved to the Donahue Rowing Center in 1993. Since its establishment over 50 years ago the team has grown to one of the largest on campus. Each season the entire squad nears 90 students, and each school year St. John's Rowing coaches approximately 110 different students.
Saint John’s Rowing Mission Statement To foster camaraderie and a stong work ethic through the sport of rowing.
Team Information St. John's Rowing is a two-season (Fall and Spring) sport made up of three levels: Varisty, JV, and Novice. Novice is for all students who have no prior experience and is open to students in any grade. Students do not have to commit to both seasons each year, they may row only one season if they would like to compete in another sport.
Students need to dress appropriately for practices, this means wearing tighter fitting shirts and shorts, sneakers, and bringing water. On colder or rainy days, students are expected to wear appropriate clothing.
DRC Address (Practice Location) 237 N. Quinsigamond Ave, Shrewsbury, MA. 01545. Rowers are responsible for finding their own way down.
