A Tradition of Success
The Saint John’s baseball program has a tradition of success dating back to 1920. Competing in Massachusetts’ highest division, the program has won four state championships - most recently the MIAA D1A Super 8 State Championship in 2017. The Pioneers were the only private school to win the Super 8 baseball championship, which was held from 2014 - 2019.
In 2015, 2016, & 2017, the Pioneers were selected for the Super 8 with seedings of #6, #2, & #1, respectively. After the dissolution of the Super 8 tournament, the 2023 team advanced to the MIAA Final Four. Pioneers finished the 2024 regular season with a 16-4 record earning them a share of the Catholic Conference title. The Pioneers collected wins over Waltham, Franklin, SJ Prep, and Xaverian before falling to BC High in the MIAA Div. 1 State Championship.
The team has also competed in seven Division 1 State Championship games -- winning the D1 State Championship 3 times. From 1990 - 2019, the team won 20 CMass Conference League Championships and 8 CMass District Championships.
St. John's became a member of the Catholic Conference in 2022, winning a share of the league title in 2024. As a member of the perennially competitive Catholic Conference, the team also schedules games against top teams from around the state. The regular season schedule consists of 20 games followed by participation in the MIAA state tournament.
The Pioneers field five baseball teams: Varsity, Junior Varsity Red, Junior Varsity White, Middle School Red, and Middle School White. There are two baseball fields for practices and games. The varsity field features professional style in-ground dugouts, a stadium style seating concourse, mens & womens bathrooms, and an electronic scoreboard. Other facilities include indoor and outdoor batting cages and indoor pitching mounds.
