Good morning Saint John’s students, faculty, and staff. Let us pause in our day to pray. In today's gospel, we read stories of Jesus acting in a way that makes us uncomfortable. He curses a seemingly innocent fig tree, and then, more dramatically, he demonstrates anger in a very physical way by overturning the tables and chairs of the money changers who were taking advantage of the poor within the temple area. Let us ask God, our "mountain mover," to help us remove our barren fig trees and provide strength and comfort as we keep sacred our individual temples.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Lord, you teach us that faith can move mountains and bear the fruits of justice and peace in our world. But faced with all the troubles in our world and in our own lives, it is so easy to give in to doubt and despair, wondering what difference we could ever make. Renew our faith in you and your power working through us, so that through our faith we may become part of your response to all the many prayers of our broken world. Amen.
